A vibrant and tangy side dish featuring tender red cabbage, perfectly balanced with a sweet and sour dressing, ideal for complementing any meal.
Ingredients
1 head red cabbage
enough to cover liters water
a pinch teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon caraway seeds
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons butter
Method
Start by thinly slicing the red cabbage and transfer it into a medium saucepan. Add enough water to fully submerge the cabbage and season with a pinch of salt. Heat until it reaches a vigorous boil.
Once boiling, stir in brown sugar and caraway seeds, then reduce heat and let it simmer for about 12 minutes or until the cabbage is soft. After it’s tender, make sure to drain the excess water.
In a separate mixing bowl, combine the drained cabbage with apple cider vinegar and melted butter, tossing everything together until the cabbage is thoroughly coated in the zesty dressing.
