A sweet and comforting noodle pudding, this classic dish combines tender egg noodles with a rich, buttery base and a hint of apple, making it a perfect addition to any holiday meal or family gathering.

Ingredients

  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 1/2 cup margarine or butter
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • to taste cinnamon

Method

  1. Start by setting your oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) to preheat.
  2. In a large saucepan, heat lightly salted water until it reaches a rolling boil. Add in the egg noodles and cook for about 5 minutes until they are firm but tender. Drain the noodles completely.
  3. In a big mixing bowl, combine the drained noodles with melted butter, stirring until the noodles are evenly coated. Then, mix in the applesauce, sugar, beaten eggs, and a hint of vanilla extract. Transfer this mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking pan and sprinkle cinnamon on top for extra flavor. Cover the pan with aluminum foil.
  4. Bake the covered dish in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. After this time, take off the foil and continue baking for another 20 to 30 minutes, until the top is a lovely golden brown.
