Deliciously marinated pork chops cooked to golden perfection, infused with rich Taiwanese flavors.
Ingredients
4 pieces pork chops
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 cloves minced garlic
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons white wine
1 teaspoon five-spice powder
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup cornstarch
Method
Make small incisions along the edges of the pork chops to prevent curling during cooking.
In a large resealable bag, combine soy sauce, minced garlic, sugar, white wine, and five-spice powder. Add the pork chops, seal the bag, and massage the marinade into the meat. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, flipping the bag occasionally.
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil until it is about 1/2 inch deep. Remove the pork chops from the marinade without wiping them off and lightly dust both sides with cornstarch.
Carefully place the pork chops in the hot skillet and cook, flipping once, until they are golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of at least 145°F (63°C).
