This Sweet and Savory Teriyaki Salmon features marinated fillets broiled to perfection, delivering a delightful balance of flavors.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons sesame oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon garlic powder
4 pieces salmon fillets
Method
In a small saucepan, mix together sesame oil, fresh lemon juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame seeds, ground mustard, ginger, and garlic powder. Warm the mixture over low heat until it begins to simmer, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved. Set aside half a cup of this sauce for later.
Place the remaining sauce in a resealable plastic bag and add the salmon fillets, ensuring they are thoroughly coated. Remove any excess air from the bag and seal it tightly. Refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours to let the flavors meld.
Position your oven rack approximately 6 inches away from the broiler and preheat the broiler.
Broil the salmon for 5 minutes, basting with the reserved marinade halfway through. Flip the fillets and broil for an additional 5 minutes, or until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. Brush with marinade one last time before serving.
