Sunday's Sweet Apple Pie

This delightful apple pie combines sweet, cinnamon-spiced apples with a flaky, buttery crust, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 batch pastry dough
  • 6 medium apples

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and position a baking sheet on the middle rack.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour, and cinnamon until well blended. Cut the butter into small chunks and divide them into two equal parts.
  3. Roll out the pastry dough to create an 11- or 12-inch circle, and gently place it into a 9-inch pie dish. Roll out the top crust and set it aside for later.
  4. In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with the sugar and spice mixture, adding in half of the butter chunks. Toss until the apples are well coated.
  5. Spoon the apple mixture into the pastry-lined pie dish. Scatter the remaining butter chunks over the apples, then cover with the top pastry layer. Seal the edges and cut steam vents in the crust.
  6. Place the pie on the baking sheet in your preheated oven and bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the filling is bubbling and the crust is beautifully golden.
