Ingredients

  • 3 pieces egg whites
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups mixed nuts
  • 1/2 cup butter

Method

  1. Start by heating your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whip the egg whites until soft peaks begin to form.
  3. Slowly incorporate the sugar, salt, and vanilla extract, whisking until stiff peaks are achieved and the mixture has a shiny appearance.
  4. Carefully fold in the nuts, making sure each piece is well-coated with the egg white mixture.
  5. Melt the butter in a 9x13 inch baking dish by placing it in the preheated oven.
  6. Once the butter is melted, evenly distribute the coated nuts over the melted butter in the dish.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring the nuts every 8 minutes to ensure they cook evenly and absorb the butter.
  8. After baking, pour the hot nuts onto a sheet of foil to cool.
  9. Once cooled, store the nuts in an airtight container for up to several weeks.
