Ingredients
1 cup butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2.5 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
a pinch salt
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups powdered sugar
1 tablespoon water
1/2 teaspoon butter flavoring
Method
In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is fluffy. Add in eggs and vanilla extract, continuing to mix until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and a dash of salt. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the butter and sugar blend, stirring with a strong spoon until a dough forms. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours.
