Delightful strawberry cream puffs made with flaky pastry, rich pudding, and fresh strawberries, all topped with powdered sugar for a sweet finish.
Ingredients
1 box pudding powder
2 cups cold milk
1 cup whipped topping
1 package pastry dough
2 cups fresh strawberries
to taste for dusting powdered sugar
Method
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the pudding mix with cold milk, then gently fold in the whipped cream. Chill this mixture in the refrigerator until you’re ready to put the pastries together.
Lightly flour a clean surface and carefully unfold the pastry sheets. Cut them along the perforated lines into three strips, then slice each strip into four equal squares. Place these squares on a baking sheet, leaving some space in between each piece.
Bake the pastry squares for about 15 minutes, or until they achieve a beautiful golden hue. Once baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
Once cooled, slice each pastry square in half horizontally to create two layers. Save the eight most attractive top pieces. On the bottom halves, add a generous dollop of the pudding mixture, followed by a layer of fresh strawberries. Add a bit more pudding on top of the strawberries to help hold everything together.
Complete the assembly by placing the top halves of the pastries over the strawberries and pudding. Spread any leftover pudding mixture on top, garnish with the remaining sliced strawberries, and finish with the prettiest pastry tops. For a final touch, dust the pastries with powdered sugar.
