Steamed Halibut with Ginger Essence

A delightful halibut dish infused with ginger, steamed to perfection and finished with a sizzle of hot oil and fresh herbs.

Ingredients

  • 1 piece halibut fillet
  • to taste none salt
  • enough for topping slices fresh ginger
  • 2 stalks green onions
  • 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • for garnish sprigs fresh cilantro

Method

  1. Begin by patting the halibut fillet dry with paper towels, then liberally season it with salt on both sides.
  2. Layer thin slices of fresh ginger on top of the fish and transfer it to a heat-resistant ceramic dish.
  3. Place the dish in a bamboo steamer set over a pot of simmering water. Cover the steamer and let the fish steam gently for approximately 10 to 12 minutes.
  4. After steaming, carefully drain any excess water from the dish. Sprinkle chopped green onions over the fish and drizzle both light and dark soy sauce on top.
  5. In a small skillet, heat peanut oil and sesame oil over medium-high heat until they become hot and shimmer. Carefully pour the hot oil over the halibut, creating a sizzling effect with the green onions and moisture.
  6. Garnish the dish with fresh cilantro sprigs and serve immediately while hot.
