These smoky sweet pork ribs are coated in a flavorful spice rub and glazed with a delicious sauce, resulting in tender, mouthwatering meat that's perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
2 pounds pork ribs
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon white pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon cumin
1 cup apple juice
1 cup barbecue sauce
as needed wood chips
Method
Gather all the ingredients needed for the recipe.
In a small bowl, create the spice rub by mixing together salt, white sugar, brown sugar, black pepper, white pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, paprika, and cumin.
Rub the spice mix generously over the pork ribs, ensuring an even coating. Cover the ribs with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
Prepare the glaze by whisking together apple juice, brown sugar, and your choice of barbecue sauce in a separate bowl until smooth. Set aside.
After marination, remove the ribs from the refrigerator and place them on the smoker's rack in a single layer. Fill the smoker tray with your preferred wood chips such as apple, grape, pear, or cherry, and preheat the smoker to 270°F (130°C). Smoke the ribs for the first hour.
After the initial hour, brush the ribs with the prepared glaze and continue to smoke, basting them every 30 to 40 minutes, for about 3 to 4 hours, until the meat is tender and starts to pull away from the bones.
Once the ribs are fully cooked, give them a final glaze before taking them out of the smoker. Wrap the ribs in aluminum foil and let them rest for 10 to 15 minutes to retain their juiciness.
Cut the ribs into portions and serve warm. Enjoy your flavorful smoked ribs!
