A delightful twist on traditional fried rice, this Spicy Thai Beef Rice Delight combines aromatic flavors and fresh herbs for a savory meal that's sure to impress.
Ingredients
2 medium shallots
1-2 pieces minced chiles
3 cloves garlic
1 pound ground beef
4 cups cooked rice
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon fish sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1/2 cup cilantro
1/2 cup basil
1 piece lime
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Method
Start by heating a wok or a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add a splash of vegetable oil and sauté finely chopped shallots and minced chiles until they turn soft and fragrant, about 3 to 5 minutes.
Next, toss in minced garlic and stir-fry for approximately one minute until its aroma fills the air. Add in the ground beef, stirring often until it is evenly browned, which should take around 5 minutes. Once cooked, use a slotted spoon to transfer the beef to a separate plate.
Reduce the heat to medium and add the pre-cooked rice to the wok, breaking up any clumps as you mix it in. Keep stirring for about 10 minutes, allowing the rice to soak up the delicious flavors from the pan.
Make a small indentation in the center of the rice and pour in the beaten eggs. Using circular motions, blend the eggs into the rice until every grain is coated with the mixture.
Return the beef mixture to the wok, combining everything thoroughly. Drizzle in soy sauce, fish sauce, and oyster sauce, stirring continuously until all the ingredients are well mixed. Let it cook for a few additional minutes to meld the flavors before removing from the heat.
Gently fold in chopped cilantro and basil, making sure they are well distributed throughout the rice.
Serve the spicy fried rice in two bowls, finishing each with a squeeze of fresh lime juice for an extra zing.
