These Tex-Mex Toasted Beef Sliders are a delicious twist on traditional sliders, featuring seasoned ground beef served on crispy Texas toast, topped with melty cheese and served with crunchy pickles.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion
2 cloves garlic
1 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
to taste pepper
8 slices Texas toast
1 cup shredded cheese
to serve pickle chips
Method
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare all the required ingredients.
In a large skillet set over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion, stirring often until the beef is fully cooked and the onion is soft, about 8 minutes. Add the minced garlic and continue to sauté for another minute until fragrant.
In a mixing bowl, combine the beef broth, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, soy sauce, yellow mustard, and a sprinkle of pepper, whisking until well blended.
Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the beef and onions. Mix well and let it simmer for around 2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove the skillet from the heat.
On a large baking sheet, lay out the slices of Texas toast in a single layer. Place them in the oven and bake for 8 to 9 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown and crispy while keeping the centers fluffy.
Using the back of a spoon, make a small well in the center of each toast slice, ensuring there is a 1/4-inch border around the edge. Spoon about 1/4 cup of the beef mixture into each well and top generously with shredded cheese.
Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the toast edges are crisp.
Serve the sliders warm, with crunchy pickle chips on the side for an extra texture.
