Ingredients

  • 1 cup sushi rice
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 sheet nori sheets
  • 1.5 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup avocado
  • 1/4 cup cucumber
  • 2 tablespoons shredded carrots
  • 1 tablespoon radish
  • 1/2 ounce smoked salmon
  • 1/2 ounce cream cheese

Method

  1. Begin by cooking the sushi rice according to package instructions. In a small saucepan, mix vinegar, sugar, and salt, then heat gently until simmering. Stir until dissolved, then combine this mixture with the rice and allow it to cool down.
  2. Place a sheet of nori on a clean surface, preferably on parchment paper. Spread a cup of sushi rice evenly over the nori, ensuring to leave an inch border at the bottom and half an inch on the sides.
  3. Drizzle 1.5 tablespoons of mayonnaise down the center of the rice for added creaminess.
  4. Layer in your choice of fillings: add 1/4 cup of avocado slices, 1/4 cup of cucumber strips, 2 tablespoons of shredded carrots, 1 tablespoon of radish slices, and finish with 1/2 ounce each of smoked salmon and cream cheese on top of the mayonnaise.
  5. Wet your fingers and moisten the bottom edge of the nori. Using the parchment paper as a guide, roll the nori over the fillings tightly, then continue rolling until it’s completely sealed. Gently press to ensure it holds together.
  6. Peel away the parchment paper and slice the sushi rolls diagonally. Serve and enjoy your fresh sushi wraps right away!
