This zesty ground beef taco filling is perfect for creating delicious tacos, loaded with flavor and easy to prepare.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion
2 tablespoons taco seasoning
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 cup water
Method
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef, using a spatula to break it into small pieces as it cooks until it is browned and the fat is rendered, which should take about 4 minutes.
Add diced onion to the skillet and cook, stirring often, until the onion turns translucent and the beef is crumbled evenly, roughly another 4 minutes. If desired, drain any excess fat at this point.
Sprinkle in your go-to taco seasoning and let it cook for a minute to enhance the flavors.
Incorporate tomato paste along with a splash of water, scraping the bottom of the pan to lift any browned bits for extra flavor. Stir everything together until combined.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and allow the mixture to simmer until it thickens, about 5 minutes.
