Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup green beans
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes

Method

  1. Start by warming your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet set over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until it's browned, which should take around 10 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Mix in the green beans, a can of cream of mushroom soup, and finely diced onion, stirring everything together until well combined.
  4. Pour the beef and vegetable mixture into a 2-quart baking dish, then top it generously with shredded Cheddar cheese.
  5. Carefully spread a layer of smooth mashed potatoes over the cheese, ensuring it's evenly distributed.
  6. Bake the assembled casserole in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until it's hot and bubbly, and the mashed potatoes have taken on a lovely golden color.
