Ingredients
1 piece smoked turkey leg
2 links sliced sausage
1 medium onion
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon seasoned salt

2 cups black-eyed peas
1 teaspoon sugar
Method
In a large cooking pot, place a smoked turkey leg along with sliced sausage, chopped onion, garlic salt, black pepper, and seasoned salt. Pour in enough water to cover all the ingredients and heat on medium until it reaches a boil. Then, reduce the heat and let it simmer for around 60 minutes until the turkey is tender.
Introduce the black-eyed peas to the pot, ensuring they are submerged in at least an inch of water. Bring the pot back to a boil, then lower the heat again and let it simmer for another hour until the peas are soft and start to break apart.
Once everything is cooked, carefully take out the turkey bones and tendons, discarding them. Add a pinch of sugar and let the mixture simmer for an additional 10 minutes, stirring often until the soup achieves a slightly creamy texture.
