This recipe for savory baked boneless short ribs delivers tender, flavorful meat smothered in a rich tomato-based sauce, perfect for a cozy dinner.
Ingredients
2 pounds boneless short ribs
1 cup tomato sauce
1 cup tomato juice
1 medium onion
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 pinch cinnamon
1 pinch cloves
1 pinch black pepper
Method
Preheat your oven's broiler to high heat.
Place the boneless short ribs on a broiler pan rack and broil them on the top rack for around 15 minutes until they achieve a beautiful golden-brown crust. Once browned, take them off the heat and move them to a baking dish.
Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).
In a medium saucepan set over medium heat, mix together tomato sauce, tomato juice, diced onion, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and a dash of hot sauce. To enhance the flavor, add a hint of cinnamon, ground cloves, and black pepper. Allow the mixture to come to a simmer.
Pour the rich sauce over the ribs in the baking dish, making sure they are thoroughly covered.
Cover the dish with a lid or foil and bake in the oven for 45 minutes, or until the meat is tender and easily shreds with a fork, ensuring an internal temperature of at least 160°F (70°C).
