Delightful puff pastry rolls filled with a savory blend of spinach and feta cheese, perfect for snacking or serving as appetizers.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic
5 cups fresh spinach
to taste none salt
1 cup feta cheese
2 sheets puff pastry sheets
1 large egg
1 tablespoon milk
to taste none sesame seeds
Method
Heat some oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in the spinach and cook until warmed through, which should take around 3-5 minutes. Season with salt and mix everything together. Transfer this mixture to a bowl and fold in crumbled feta until well blended.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare two baking sheets by lightly greasing them.
On a floured surface, slice one sheet of puff pastry in half lengthwise. Roll out one half with a rolling pin so that it can be folded twice lengthwise. In a separate bowl, whisk together an egg with a splash of milk to create an egg wash.
Spread one-sixth of the spinach and feta mixture down the center of the puff pastry. Roll one side over the filling and brush the opposite side with the egg wash. Fold it over again to enclose the filling securely.
Brush the top of the rolled pastry with the egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds generously on top. Cut the roll into six equal sections. Repeat this process for the remaining puff pastry and filling.
Place the cut rolls on the prepared baking sheets and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are puffed and have a golden brown color.
