A savory dish featuring a perfectly seasoned steak resting atop a flavorful rice medley, all baked to perfection with a rich buttery layer and melted cheese on top.
Ingredients
2 cups Rice
1 medium, diced Onion
1 cup, sliced Mushrooms
1 cup Beef consomme
1 can French onion soup
2 cups Water
3 tablespoons Butter
1 cup, shredded Cheese
1 teaspoon Garlic powder
to taste Salt
to taste Pepper
1 2-pound piece Steak
Method
Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (180°C). In a spacious baking dish, mix together the rice, chopped onion, sliced mushrooms, beef broth, onion soup mix, and water. Stir until well combined, then place a generous dollop of butter on top and sprinkle with 3/4 cup of shredded cheese.
Season the steak well with garlic powder, salt, and freshly ground pepper. Place the seasoned steak on top of the rice mixture, and then add the remaining cheese over the steak. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 50 minutes. After this time, take off the foil and continue baking until the liquid has been absorbed, the rice is tender, and the top is beautifully golden brown, which should take another 20 to 30 minutes.
