Ingredients

  • 2 medium Sweet potatoes
  • 1 can Diced stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup Tomato sauce
  • 1 large Onion
  • 2 stalks Celery
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 tablespoons Chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 pound Ground turkey
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 can Black beans
  • 1 cup Corn

Method

  1. Begin by placing sweet potatoes, diced stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, chopped onion, sliced celery, and water into a slow cooker. Add chili powder, cumin, cinnamon, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Set your slow cooker to high and allow the mixture to cook for approximately 5 hours, stirring occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  3. While the chili is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and ground beef, cooking until they are browned and crumbled, which should take around 10 to 15 minutes. Be sure to drain any excess fat.
  4. Once the meats are browned, transfer them into the slow cooker along with black beans and corn. Stir everything together and let it simmer for another 1 to 2 hours to let the flavors blend beautifully.
  5. Serve the chili hot, and feel free to add your favorite garnishes to enhance the dish.
