Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup bread cubes
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 4 large bell peppers

Method

  1. Begin by setting your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly greasing a sizable baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix together ground beef, an egg, bread crumbs, chopped onion, diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chili sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until everything is well combined.
  3. Wash the bell peppers carefully, then use a sharp knife to carve festive jack-o'-lantern faces into them. Make triangle shapes for the eyes and nose, and create jagged mouths. Cut off the tops and remove the insides to clear out seeds and membranes.
  4. Fill each carved pepper with the beef mixture, pressing it in gently, and place them upright in the greased baking dish so they can support each other.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about one hour, or until the peppers are tender and the filling is fully cooked.
