These delicate spritz cookies are a buttery delight, perfect for any occasion. Easy to make with a cookie press, they bake into beautifully shaped treats that are light and crisp.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Method
Start by gathering a large mixing bowl and combine all the ingredients. Beat them together at medium speed until they are well incorporated. Once mixed, cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator for about an hour to chill.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). While the oven is heating, take a portion of the chilled dough, keeping the rest in the fridge to ensure it stays firm.
Using a cookie press fitted with a bar-plate tip, press the dough onto ungreased baking sheets, forming long strips with about an inch of space between each.
With a sharp knife, slice each strip into segments that are 2 1/2 inches long, keeping them on the baking sheet. Bake them in the preheated oven for approximately 8 minutes, watching closely until they achieve a light golden hue. Avoid overbaking.
After baking, take the sheets out of the oven and carefully cut through any cookies that might still be joined.
Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container.
