These crispy fava bean bombs are packed with flavor and coated in crunchy sesame seeds. Perfect as a snack or appetizer, they are vegan-friendly and easy to make.
Ingredients
1 cup fava beans
1 medium red onion
1 bunch fresh parsley
1 bunch cilantro
1 bunch dill
3 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cumin
1 cup sesame seeds
1 quart oil
Method
Begin by soaking fava beans in a large bowl of water for 8 hours or overnight. Once they are well-soaked, drain them thoroughly.
In a food processor, add the drained fava beans along with chopped red onion, fresh parsley, cilantro, dill, minced garlic, coriander, salt, and cumin. Process until the mixture reaches a dough-like consistency.
Heat a skillet over medium heat and toast sesame seeds for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until they turn golden brown. Once done, transfer them to a plate and set aside.
Form the fava bean mixture into roughly 50 small balls. Roll each ball in the toasted sesame seeds for an extra crunchy exterior.
In a large saucepan, pour oil to a depth of about a quarter of the pan and heat it over medium heat. Fry the fava bean balls in batches until they are golden brown, which should take about 3 to 5 minutes per batch. After frying, place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
