Enjoy this crispy air-fried chicken katsu paired with a homemade tangy dipping sauce, perfect for a delightful meal.
Ingredients
2 pieces chicken breasts
1 cup breadcrumbs
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon sherry
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 clove minced garlic
as needed nonstick cooking spray
to taste salt
to taste black pepper
Method
Begin by assembling all the required ingredients, which include chicken breasts, breadcrumbs, eggs, and the components for the dipping sauce.
In a bowl, mix together ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, sherry, Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic. Stir the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved, then set the resulting sauce aside.
On a clean work surface, take the chicken breasts and season them liberally with salt and pepper.
In one shallow dish, whisk the eggs, and in another dish, place the breadcrumbs. First, dip each chicken breast into the egg, then coat it thoroughly with breadcrumbs. For an extra crunchy texture, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating process.
Arrange the breaded chicken pieces in the basket of your preheated air fryer. Lightly mist the tops with nonstick cooking spray to enhance browning.
Air fry the chicken for 10 minutes, then using a spatula, carefully flip each piece. Spray the tops again with cooking spray and continue cooking for another 8 minutes until they are golden brown.
Once finished cooking, move the chicken to a cutting board and slice it into strips.
Serve the crispy chicken katsu alongside the prepared tangy dipping sauce and savor your delicious meal!
