This recipe offers a delightful twist on calamari, featuring crispy, air-fried squid rings that are easy to make and deliciously crunchy.
Ingredients
1 pound Squid rings
1 cup All-purpose flour
1 large Egg
2 tablespoons Milk
1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
to taste teaspoon Salt
to taste teaspoon Black pepper
as needed spray Nonstick cooking spray
Method
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
In one mixing bowl, pour in the flour. In another bowl, combine the egg and milk and whisk until smooth. In a third bowl, blend panko breadcrumbs with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Take the squid rings and dredge them in the flour first, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally coat thoroughly with the panko breadcrumb mixture.
Place the coated squid rings into the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they don't touch. If needed, work in batches. Give the tops a light misting with nonstick cooking spray.
Cook the squid rings for 4 minutes, flip them over, spray again with nonstick cooking spray, and air fry for an additional 3 minutes or until they are perfectly golden and crispy.
