A vibrant cranberry sauce infused with warm spices and a zesty orange flavor, perfect for enhancing any meal.
Ingredients
12 oz Cranberries
2 pieces Cinnamon sticks
5 pieces Allspice berries
4 pieces Cloves
1 cup Orange juice
1 medium Apples
1 medium Pears
1 cup Granulated sugar
1/2 cup Brown sugar
Method
Cut a piece of cheesecloth measuring about 8 inches square and place the cinnamon sticks, allspice berries, and cloves in the center. Gather the edges and tie securely with kitchen twine to form a spice pouch.
In a large saucepan, mix the spice pouch with fresh cranberries and freshly squeezed orange juice. Bring the mixture to a rapid boil over high heat, cooking until the cranberries begin to burst, which should take around 10 minutes.
Stir in diced apples, pears, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Allow the mixture to come back to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for approximately 25 minutes until the fruits soften.
After cooking, remove the spice pouch and discard it. Pour the sauce into a bowl, cover it, and refrigerate overnight. Serve chilled for a refreshing side dish.
