A succulent ham glazed with a rich bourbon and brown sugar mixture, perfect for festive gatherings or family dinners.
Ingredients
1 whole Ham
1 cup Brown sugar
1/2 cup Bourbon
1 teaspoon Black pepper
to taste pieces Whole cloves
Method
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
Remove the skin and excess fat from the ham, leaving a quarter-inch layer intact. Score the surface in a diamond pattern and place whole cloves in the center of each diamond.
Place the ham, cut-side down, in a roasting pan and set it in the oven.
Bake for about 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 125°F (52°C) using an instant-read thermometer, making sure not to touch the bone.
In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, bourbon, and black pepper until a smooth glaze forms.
Raise the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C).
Apply one-third of the bourbon glaze over the ham and return it to the oven. Continue baking until the internal temperature hits 140°F (60°C), basting with the glaze every 10 minutes. If the ham starts to brown excessively, loosely cover it with aluminum foil.
Let the ham rest for 15 minutes before slicing it up and serving.
