A rich and creamy liqueur infused with the distinct flavor of anise, perfect for sipping or using in cocktails.
Ingredients
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons anise seeds
4 large egg yolks
1 cup rum
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 can evaporated milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Method
In a saucepan, mix together water, sugar, and anise seeds; bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, lower the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for approximately 10 minutes until a syrup forms.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and strain the syrup to eliminate the anise seeds. Allow the syrup to cool for a bit.
In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks vigorously until they become a light yellow hue. Next, add in the rum, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract.
Slowly incorporate the cooled syrup into the egg mixture, stirring until it is entirely smooth.
Pour the finished liqueur into decorative bottles and seal them tightly. For optimal flavor, refrigerate for at least 6 hours before serving, although letting it sit longer will deepen the taste.
