Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, beat together softened butter and white sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. Gradually add 1 cup of all-purpose flour to create a soft dough.
  3. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and press each piece into the base and up the sides of a 12-cup muffin tray.
  4. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine sliced almonds, brown sugar, and 2 tablespoons of butter. Stir in the cream and 2 teaspoons of flour, cooking until the mixture bubbles, which should take around 10 minutes.
  5. Gently fill each tart shell with the almond filling.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven until the edges and tops turn a beautiful golden brown, approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
  7. Let the pastries cool in the pan for about 10 to 15 minutes before moving them to a wire rack to cool completely.
